As all parents know, not every adult with childcare experience is a great babysitter. It takes a caring, responsible, fun loving person that genuinely enjoys children to be referred as a babysitter from River City Sitters. Below is a list of profiles from just a few of the wonderful ladies that babysit for River City Sitters. These are not all of our sitters, but this list helps existing and potential clients learn about the types of sitters we provide. As a client, when a sitter is placed with you for a babysitting job, you are emailed her profile and she will contact you to confirm.

Livia: I am a VA licensed, certified teacher with Chesterfield County Public Schools, and have worked in the field of education for twelve years. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary & Special Education. In addition, I hold CPR certification for adults, children, and infants as well as choking and AED certification (Expiration Mar. 2015). I have a wealth of baby-sitting experience, including newborn and infant care. I was also a camp counselor for one summer. It was the most rewarding job I have ever had! I love children! I became an Educator because I enjoy helping children succeed and learn to achieve their goals. I am committed to children and their future!

Safiya:  Hello families! It's a pleasure to meet you, your little ones and your furry little ones. My favorite activities include silly songs, reading/story time, and doing arts & crafts. I'm an artist and I love creating. I also love to be active, get outside, take kids to the playground or different places around Richmond. I am passionate not only about childcare but creating fun, safe, enriching environments for children to grow in while being adaptable to different families' needs. I am adult, child, and infant CPR certified as of November, 8th, 2014. I am also certified in the developmental milestones of children 0 to 5. I look forward to meeting you.

 Taylor:  Hi. My name is Taylor and I absolutely adore children. I am extremely patient and love to make any day with me fun, and a learning experience. I have my own transportation and an open schedule, so whenever you would need me I'd be there to make your life just a bit easier. I am extremely comfortable with animals, I even have one of my own. I've had two years of medical assistant training, and throughout those years have received my CPR, EKG, and First Aid certifications. I am a loving and high spirited individual and would love the opportunity to meet you.

 Hannah:  Hi, my name is Hannah. I am currently a student at Virginia Commonwealth University studying Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. I have experience caring for babies in the nursery at my home church, teaching swim lessons, and being a head counselor for four different sports, english, and AWANAS camps. I am energetic, caring, responsible, compassionate, and loving so working with children comes easy. I've also lifeguarded for three years so I have experience in pressured situations and remaining watchful.

Robin:  I am a 25 year old Emergency Nurse. I love children and pets. I have four younger sisters. I am a very active, bright personality. I am CPR certified.

Ally:  Hi! My name is Ally and I am a 25 year old graduate from Virginia Tech. I majored in Human Development (Child and Adolescent Track) and graduated in 2012. I am currently in graduate school at University of Richmond to get my elementary teaching license. I have been working for River City Sitters since December 2013. I have a lot of experience working with children of all ages and truly love being around them. I am comfortable with any age and am happy to help out with cooking, cleaning up, bedtime routines, etc. I will make sure to take amazing care of your children in a fun as well as professional manner!!

Worth:  Hi! My name is Ally McElroy and I am a 25 year old graduate from Virginia Tech. I majored in Human Development (Child and Adolescent Track) and graduated in 2012. I am currently in graduate school at University of Richmond to get my elementary teaching license. I have been working for River City Sitters since December 2013. I have a lot of experience working with children of all ages and truly love being around them. Karen:  I currently teach fourth and fifth grade gifted education in Henrico County. In the past, I taught second grade, but I am really enjoying the move to a higher grade level. I enjoy working with children of all ages, I am comfortable with infants, and believe in being an active babysitter.

Priscilla:  Hi~ Thanks for considering me to help you out! A bit about me.  I have four grown children and two grandchildren. My children are my pride and joy, and my grandsons....they are my heart!! I also have two dogs. Henry, a cocker spaniel and Greta, a rescue lab/husky mix. They are both sweet dogs and I love them like they were my children. I hate to admit this, but they are both spoiled rotten! I have been taking care of people since I was a young girl and enjoy doing so. However, I enjoy taking care of the little people in particular. There is nothing more refreshing than seeing the world through the eyes of a child. I enjoy interacting with them, playing, talking, and listening. Although, I have to admit...I so enjoy spending time with the elderly also. They have so much history and wisdom to share! For my day job, I work full-time for the state. I have worked for the Virginia Lottery for over 22 years. When my youngest went off to college, I realized I needed to keep busy. Alex:  Hello, My name is Alexandra but please feel free to call me Alex! I am student pursuing a degree in broadcast and print/online journalism in the school of Mass Communications at VCU. I am also serve on leadership for a campus ministry at VCU known as Intervarsity. My hobbies include writing, hiking, exercising, and hanging out with kids!

Jessica:  Hello! I'm Jessica, age 23 and an experienced babysitter for kids of all ages, from the small and wiggling to the tall and texting! I love to read books aloud (with voices), am an expert at playing the board game LIFE (triplets AND early retirement??) and have a talent as a short order cook (mac'n cheese, pancakes, PB&J, chicken tenders... the staples). You can count on me to make certain the toys are put away, teeth are brushed (I still see that brownie... keep scrubbing!) and a note of "what to know" when you return ("Do you promise Mom will come give me kisses, Miss Jessica?"). When I'm not playing hide and seek, you can find me teaching middle school English in Henrico County. Other qualifications: CPR/AED certified, former competitive swimmer, comfortable with pets, adept at driving minivans, and have traveled on extended road trips and vacations with families.

Shelby:  I am 24 years old. I am an alumni of Liberty University, and I am currently a Financial Service Advisor at First Market Bank. I have worked with children for many years; as a sitter, as well as a preschool teacher for five years with Tuckaway Early Child. My experience with children, is vast in all age groups, I have sit for children as young as 4mos, and have taught/sit for children as old as 13 years. My future plans involve teaching English overseas in the near future.

Kristina: Hello! My name is Kristina. I am twenty years old, and I am a junior at James Madison University. I am studying to be an early-childhood education teacher. I am a dependable and caring person and love working with children! I enjoy being able to see every child’s unique personality shine through. I have been babysitting children for about seven years now. I have experience working with infants in my church nursery and have helped take care of my two younger siblings over the years. I have experience babysitting children nine months in age to fourteen years of age.

Breeze: My name is Breeze and I am 32 years old. I have a Bachelor’s degree from VCU in Fashion Design and Merchandising and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing. My work experience mainly includes project management and marketing. I worked for the headquarters for Circuit City and when they closed their doors I moved to Chicago to work for the headquarters for Sears Holdings. I moved back to Richmond and currently work at Capital One. I have been married for almost 4 years and just had a baby girl in January 2013. I have a lot of experience with babysitting and am comfortable with newborns. I have babysat since I was 14 years old, ranging from newborns to middle school aged children. I enjoy being around kids and animals (I am a huge animal lover). I also tutor for under privileged children and find great satisfaction in helping a child learn and further develop themselves. I enjoy being interactive with the kids I babysit and keeping them occupied with games, coloring or doing whatever they find joy out of. I also clean up after all children to ensure the parents’ house is mess free upon their return.

Meagan: My name is Meagan and I am 27 years old. I currently work for a pharmaceutical research company. Prior to getting my current position I worked at an elementary school for three years. I have always loved children. When I was 14 I started babysitting for neighborhood families, this continued throughout high school. Once in college I was a nanny during the summers. As the oldest of 4, taking care of children has always come natural to me. I have been with River City Sitters for 4 years and completely love it! When I'm not working and babysitting, I enjoy cooking, reading, hanging out with my friends, taking trips, doing craft projects, and spending time with my dog Jack. I consider myself a fun-loving person and look forward to sitting for your child(ren)!

Morgan: I am a 2012 graduate of the College of William and Mary and second year student at the University of Richmond School of Law. I am one of five children and have six nieces and nephews. I have been providing child care to my sibling's children, cousins, and neighbors for over 12 years. I also served as a day summer camp counselor for the King William County Parks and Recreation. I enjoy outside games, arts and crafts, educational activities, and other activities that keep children engaged. I have experience caring for children ranging from infants to teenagers.

Melissa: Hi! My name is Melissa, and I'm a 35 year-old special education teacher with Powhatan County Public Schools. As a child, I grew up in the suburbs, outside of Philadelphia (close to Wilmington, DE). I went to Radford University and to Va Tech, and have an undergrad degree in Political Science, with a minor in History. I also have a Master’s degree in Communication, as well as a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Special Education, grades K-12, with endorsements in Learning Disabilities and Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities). I first began baby-sitting children in my neighborhood, when I was in 5th grade--over 20 years ago, and I continued to baby-sit through middle school, high school, college and graduate school. As a result, I've baby-sat for children ranging in age from newborn babies, up through their early teens, and have traveled with families on summer vacation, providing childcare--sometimes up to between 4-6 children at a time! I have a great deal of energy, and am very flexible regarding the individual needs of children, as well as their families. I enjoy doing outdoor activities with kids (sports, playground, pool, etc), as well as doing a variety of activities indoors as well. I'm 100% willing to help with homework after school, and I am more than willing to baby-sit for children with special needs.

Candice:  Hi! My name is Candice and I absolutely love working with children! I have over 10 years of experience with babysitting. I am responsible and dependable, but I am also very energetic and fun. With me, your children will have a great time not just playing and having fun, but also learning. My hobbies include reading, volunteering within the community and spending time with family.

Anglea: Hi! My name is Angela. I am 27 years old. I am currently a student. I have taught preschool for 2 years at the VCU Child Development Center and have babysat for different families around the area for years and I look forward to meeting/babysitting for more families with River City Sitters!

Julia:  Hi My name is Julia and I live in the Richmond area. I have been a babysitter since I was 12 and have been a full time nanny on three occasions. I love crafts, games, music, outdoor activities, and animals. I have a big family and love to be around people. Most of all I love to have fun and be creative! I look forward to meeting you!

Carrie:  Hi! My name is Carrie :) I work full time as an event planner during the week but have many years of experience watching children as well. I am a fun loving, enthusiastic person and my personality allows me to interact well with children. I have also been certified as a nurse as well as first aid and CPR certified. Keeping your children safe is my top priority, but I also make sure they have fun when I am there. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet your family!

Alyssa:  I graduated from VCU in May of 2013 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I currently work for an orthopedic implant distributorship in their billing department. I love kids (and pets!) and am interested in evening and weekend care. I currently live in The Fan in Richmond, VA.

Sarah:  I'm Sarah, I am currently completing my masters program for elementary education at Virginia Commonwealth University. I have held several before and after school child care positions throughout the Richmond area. I am CPR and first aid certified as well as AED, EpiPen, and PMAT. I truly enjoy working with students of all ages so I feel I can handle anything from infant to school age level. I do have reliable transportation and drove for several child care centers to drop students off to school or picking them up. I look forward to helping with homework, or providing transportation as the school year kicks off.

Mary:  I am a 22-year old VT graduate and medical scribe with lots of experience working with children! I am fun-loving and excited to help take care of your children.

Ashley:  I am a 27 year old who was born and raised in Richmond, VA. I have been working with River City Sitters for almost 2 years now. I graduated from Radford University in 2009, where I majored in Interior Design. I currently work full-time at Baskervill where I am the team coordinator for the Hospitality Team. Before I started college I babysat for several families within my community ranging in ages of 1 year to 11 years old. During my college summers (while I was back home in Richmond) I babysat for two families; ages 9 & 14. After I graduated from college I worked temporarily for a company called Images 4 Kids. Images 4 Kids is a company which travels to local day cares to take children's semi-annual portraits; the children ranged in ages of 6 months to 6 years old. One year after I graduated college my sister had a son, who is now 4 years old. Since my sister had her son at a young age I have helped in caring for him from birth to present (i.e. dropping off/picking up at daycare, giving baths, babysitting him while she is at work, cooking meals, putting to bed, etc.). As you can see I enjoy caring for children of all ages, and I look forward to babysitting for you!

Elizabeth:  I'm Elizabeth, I'm from Richmond and am currently a college student attending VCU. I major in Spanish and Religious Studies with a minor in Latin American Studies. I am very detail oriented and organized person. I love music and art and love planning activities for kids as well. I've been babysitting for about 10 years now and nannying has been my primary job for about 3 years. I have done over night nannying, after school babysitting, as well as weekend and date night babysitting. I've worked with infants all the way to children in middle school. I have also worked with children who have special needs including autism and ADHD. I love working with children and always aim to have safety and fun as my two primary goals. I believe in making learning fun as well and love doing games with different school subjects. I am also available for homework help and prefer to have children knock that out before we take on the rest of the evening. All in all I'm a caring nanny and always shoot to make sure that the kids are having fun and learning while staying safe!

Heather: Hi! My name is Heather and I am originally from Boston but have lived in the Richmond for 21 years. I graduated from JMU with my BA in English and VCU with my MA in English. I am married with two furry children, a dog and a cat. Currently, I am a high school English teacher in Henrico County. I have also been a girl's lacrosse coach in the Richmond area for about 7 years. Because I have been babysitting since about age 14, I know a ton of games and activities to keep kids busy and entertained. I enjoy playing games outside and going to the playground and the pool. I look forward to meeting you!

Kristen: My name is Kristen. I am 23 years old. I was born and mostly raised in Newport News, VA. I completed my Bachelor of Science at Old Dominion University in 2012 as a Psychology and Human Services double major. I have worked with children and teens in a variety of settings: as a sitter for several families privately, as an AVID Tutor in Newport News Public Schools, and as a CARE NOW Advocate in Norfolk Public Schools. I am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University. I love working with both children and teens. I look forward to meeting you!

Meagan: I am 24, and I have my bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University. I currently work at VCU in the pediatric research department. I have been baby-sitting for the past 10 years, and have worked as a full-time nanny for the past two summers. I nannied for twin girls, and we loved going to the park and the library, playing dress up, and  making cookies.

Jamie: Hello! I am Jamie and I am very excited about having the opportunity to work with River City Sitters and your family. I am 26 years old and am a second grade teacher. In addition to my experience with children inside of the classroom, I have been a personal baby sitter for many years. I have experience with a wide range of ages as well as abilities. I spent one summer in college working at a camp for mentally and physically disabled children, which I really enjoyed. During my holidays off from school I would come back and work with these children because I loved it so much!

Heather: I am a mother, wife and teacher. My husband and I have been married for 13 years, we have 2 sons who are 11 and 5 years old. I received both my Bachelors and Masters from Old Dominion University. I have babysat since I was 12 years old. I ran a home daycare when my husband was in the Navy and we were stationed in London, UK. While completing my degree, I worked as a preschool teacher. When I completed my degree, I was hired with Norfolk Public Schools, where I taught both 2nd and 3rd grades. My husband’s job brought us to the Richmond area, and I currently teach for Henrico County Public Schools.

Frankye: Hello, I am a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, and am currently employed as an elementary school teacher. I have worked in the elementary school setting for approximately seven years, with children ages 4-12. Besides teaching, I also enjoy spending time with my family!
